AboutBathroom Info Server (BIS) is a HyperCard novelty stack uploaded to Info-Mac by nebrfan@kdsi.net, pitched in its own README as the perfect party gag. The instructions are charmingly specific: take an old compact Mac -- a Plus or SE is preferred -- park it in the bathroom while guests are over, and let the fun begin.ConceptThe stack is meant to be left running unattended on a bathroom counter as something between an interactive guestbook and a prop joke. Any guest who wanders in finds a small black-and-white Mac quietly running BIS and ready to be poked at.Hardware stagingThe author specifically calls out the Mac Plus and SE form factor because their tiny 9-inch enclosure tucks neatly onto a sink ledge. The notes are explicit, however, that any Mac will work if you do not happen to have a compact unit handy.System requirementsBIS requires HyperCard Player to run; it is a HyperCard stack rather than a standalone application. Any Classic Mac OS release that can launch HyperCard 2.x or the bundled HyperCard Player will host it.DistributionThe file is mirrored as info-mac/game/bathroom-info-server-10.hqx -- a BinHex 4.0 encoded copy of version 1.0 of the stack. |
