AboutQuerkz is a fast-paced Mac shareware falling-blocks puzzle game by Judah Software in which the player swivels paddles to line up colored 3D blocks four-in-a-row before they pile up. Version 1.5 adds two new block sets, a CloudRodent guest from sister title Cloudz, and a fresh music track.GameplayBlocks descend continuously from above and the player rotates paddles at the bottom to slot them into matching color groups. Clearing four-in-a-row removes the blocks; failing to keep up lets the stack climb until the well overflows. The whole field is rendered with 3D camera moves, real-time lighting effects, and texture-mapped blocks rather than a flat grid. What is new in 1.5Two new sets of colored blocks expand the strategy palette, the CloudRodent character crosses over from Judah's Cloudz, and a new music track joins the soundtrack. The release is a substantial update over Querkz 1.0 rather than a minor patch.PresentationQuerkz leans on showy 3D effects unusual for late-1990s Mac shareware: the camera tilts and pans during play, lights and texture maps animate in real time, and Judah Software warns up front that some viewing angles can cause motion-sickness or dizziness for sensitive players.DistributionDistributed as Mac shareware via Info-Mac and the Macintosh Garden mirror. This is the third Querkz upload tracked in the catalog (see also nid 10826), reflecting the version-1.5 refresh of the original Querkz 1.0 release. Other Versions |
