Despair is a darkly comic pestilence simulator from Lloyd Burchill in which players play the role of a wrathful deity, raining disasters down on a tiny black-and-white populace of helpless computer people. Released in 1997 for classic Mac OS, it pairs a stark monochrome aesthetic with a wicked sense of humor.GameplayPlayers unleash an arsenal of calamities including diseased sheep, neutron bombs, volcanoes, fire, ice and lightning, then watch the simulated villagers panic, suffer and perish.
