About

ChocolettersVF 1.7 is the French localisation of Pierre Durand's Classic Mac deduction puzzle. The computer scrambles 36 letters and figures into a 6-by-6 grid, and the player works out the layout by repeatedly asking the game to draw a path between two tiles, then using the shapes of those paths to pin down where every letter must actually be.How it playsThe Info-Mac ReadMe explains that you have to find how the computer mixed up 36 letters and figures in a 6 by 6 grid. To succeed you may ask for paths leading from one letter to another, and with several paths you can deduce the positions of the letters. The score depends on the number of paths used and the time spent finishing the puzzle. What's new in 1.7Version 1.7 lets you ask for a path by clicking on an already-played tile in the grid, adds handy buttons for the most-used functions, and ships a handful of smaller refinements. The author notes that examples of the game are available on his site in both English and French.System requirementsChocoletters targets any 68020 or better Macintosh running System 7 with QuickTime, driving a 640x480 or larger colour screen. QuickTime 3.0 is needed for good MIDI playback if you load your own music files, and QuickTime 4.0 is required to play MP3 audio inside the game.French buildThis entry corresponds to the file chocoletters-17-fr.hqx on Info-Mac, which the ReadMe identifies as ChocolettersVF 1.7, the French version. It is a sibling of the English 1.7 release; both are $10 US shareware handled by Kagi, and both come from Pierre Durand at 14 rue de Montenegro, 71200 Le Creusot, France.
