About

Congo Introduction is a Macintosh tutorial package by Ed van Zon of MindSports that teaches Congo, a two-player chess variant designed by Demian Freeling at age seven under the guidance of his father, Dutch games designer Christian Freeling. The package bundles the full rules with an annotated example game.An introduction to CongoThe package is aimed at the interested layman rather than experienced abstract-strategy players, walking through the rules of Congo and showing them in action through a worked example.HTML and Java appletsRather than a native Macintosh binary, the introduction is delivered as a bundle of HTML pages and Java applets, requiring a Java-enabled browser such as Netscape Navigator 3.0 or Internet Explorer 3.0. No internet connection is required to read the local copy.MindSports companionThe package was produced as a companion to the MindSports Arena pages at mindsports.net, where Congo can also be played online against other visitors.CreditsCongo itself is credited to Demian Freeling; the Macintosh introduction is by Ed van Zon at MindSports.
