AboutSGFFileHelper 1.2 by Peter Berck is a Macintosh utility for Go players who keep large collections of game records in the Smart Game Format or Ishi format. Drop a folder of games on the application and it lists every file in a window with metadata pulled from each record, then hands the chosen game off to an external viewer. How it worksDrag a directory containing SGF or Ishi-format games onto the application icon. SGFFileHelper opens a window listing every game it found, alongside extracted metadata, ready for browsing.Metadata shownFor each game the listing surfaces players' names and rankings, the game outcome, and other header fields recorded in the SGF file, so collections can be skimmed without opening files individually.Filtering and sortingFilters can be applied to the listing to narrow down to games matching chosen criteria. Sorting the list is new in version 1.2.Launching gamesDouble-clicking a row launches the viewer application associated with the file, so SGFFileHelper acts as a front end to whatever Go board program the user already has installed.AuthorWritten by Peter Berck (Peter.Berck@kub.nl) and posted on 3 June 1995. |
