Fischer Spassky Sargon IV is a data file rather than a standalone game: it contains all thirty games of the 1992 Fischer-Spassky rematch encoded in Sargon IV's saved-game format, ready to be opened, replayed and analysed inside the Sargon IV chess program for Macintosh. The set was contributed in November 1992 by Frank Easterbrook of the University of Chicago Law School.The 1992 MatchTwenty years after their famous 1972 World Championship in Reykjavik, Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky met again in Sveti Stefan and Belgrade for an unofficial rematch. Fischer won 10-5 with 15 draws, ending a long absence from competitive play. The match remains a notable historical document for chess study.About Sargon IVSargon IV, written by Dan and Kathe Spracklen and published by Spinnaker Software in 1988, was a leading Macintosh chess program of its era. It offered sixteen difficulty levels, tutorials and hints, and both 2D and 3D board displays, and could load saved games for review.How to Use the FileThe archive expands into Sargon IV game documents that the program opens directly, letting the user step through each move, analyse positions, or hand any position over to the engine for evaluation.
