About

SargoNoidz is a fast-paced action and strategy puzzle game for the Classic Mac by Rich "Akira" Pizor (pizor@lclark.edu), submitted to Info-Mac in September 1994. Set on a chessboard, the player steers a small face with the keypad and must cross every square at least once before time runs out -- while a growing army of chess pieces tries to capture them.GameplayThe player moves a face-icon around the board using the numeric keypad, racing to cover every square within a tight time limit. Standing in the way is an army of chess pieces that becomes more advanced with each level and tries to capture the player before the board is cleared.CapturingThe threat works both ways: the player can capture chess pieces by moving onto their square before the piece moves onto theirs. The result is a tense mix of pathfinding, predator-and-prey timing and chess-style threat assessment.Display supportSargoNoidz supports both black-and-white and color displays, including 256-color modes, so it runs on the full range of contemporary Classic Mac hardware.FormatDistributed as a BinHex (.hqx) archive that must be decoded with BinHex 4.0 or a compatible utility before launching on a Classic Mac OS system.
