MacTurnover is John Lindal's Macintosh implementation of Othello (Reversi), first released in 1991 and updated through version 1.2.2 in 1992. Players can match wits against the computer, hand the mouse to a friend for a head-to-head game, or sit back and watch the computer play itself.GameplayThe standard Othello rules apply: drop a disc, flank your opponent's pieces, and flip them to your color. MacTurnover supports a configurable board sized anywhere from 8 to 20 squares on a side, well beyond the traditional 8x8 grid.AIThree difficulty levels let the program suit casual players or those looking for a longer think. The self-play mode also makes the game useful as a demonstration or a way to study the engine's openings.CompatibilityVersion 1.2.2 added Quadra 040 cache compatibility, smoothing out behavior on the then-new generation of 68040 Macs.
