Today's mail features a postcard from Revenue City, Nevada, addressed to you--and the monthly newsletter of the APBB (that's Jake's professional organization, the Adventurers' Protective and Benevolent Brotherhood, better known by its slogan, 'Always Pillage Before you Burn.') Your eyes are drawn irresistibly to the "This Month's Hot Spots" feature: "...outlawed the Thieves' Guild. As a result, unlicensed thievery is rampant and there's no mechanism for recovering stolen property. The official sceptre has been stolen and, thanks to the shortage of accredited thieves, nobody has been able to locate it. The ruler is offering a large reward and full amnesty to the one who succeeds in restoring the sceptre and identifying the original thief..." That's all the invitation you need.
