Romi is a Macintosh rummy simulation written by Gerard Brochu and first released in 1994. It is played with two standard 52-card decks plus two wildcards, and lets the player face the computer across several difficulty levels. Multiple revisions appeared through the mid-1990s, ranging from a System 6 monochrome build to a color System 7 release.GameplayThe object of the game is to form valid groups by laying down either three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, or three or more cards of the same rank across different suits. Wildcards stand in for missing cards in either kind of meld, in keeping with traditional rummy rules.VersionsRomi shipped in a long sequence of revisions, including 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.5.2, 1.7, 1.7.1, and a 2.0 release. The 1.7.1 build runs on System 6.0.4 with a monochrome display, while 2.0 targets System 7 with color and is best viewed at 800 by 600 or larger.AuthorRomi was authored by Gerard Brochu and distributed as Macintosh shareware.
