Sim Cinema Deluxe is Shannon Schroeder's 1999 movie-studio simulator for the Macintosh, in which the player runs a small Hollywood production company and tries to climb the box office through a pipeline of casting, filming, and release decisions. Version 2.5 - the build archived on Info-Mac - is the final release of the series.Producing a filmEach project walks the player from script through casting, into filming, and out the other side as a finished release. Casting and filming choices feed forward into the film's box-office performance, which the simulator tracks week by week so the player can see exactly how a star, a budget, or a bad development call moved the needle. An in-game cast and crew editor lets players seed their studio with custom talent.Changes in 2.5The 2.5 update added a Box Office Top Ten chart that the player's films compete on directly, a test-screening feature to gauge audience reaction before release, an explicit budget control, and a more detailed development phase. The release notes also call out a redesigned interface, many small improvements, and an extensive bug-fix pass.System requirementsSim Cinema Deluxe 2.5 runs on a PPC or 68k Macintosh with System 7.0.1 or later, Sound Manager 3.0 or later, 4 MB of RAM, and a 256-colour monitor.
