The iPad mini 4 is faster, thinner, taller, and lighter than the iPad mini 3 , boasting a 30% faster CPU and 60% faster graphics, which it replaces. That’s due in part to the 1.5 GHz A8 processor and in part to having 2 MB of system memory.
As with iPhones and other recent iPads, the iPad mini 4 is available in silver, gold, and space gray. No sign yet of rose gold, which remains unique to the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus for now.
Because the iPad mini 4 is taller and thinner than the iPad mini 3, it won’t fit most existing cases. You’ll want to be sure to buy one compatible with the iPad mini 4.

A lot smaller and just half the weight of a full-sized iPad, the iPad mini squeezed the features of the iPad 2 into much more portable package with a 7.9″ screen.
Unlike other iPads introduced after the iPad 2, the iPad mini used the same 1024 x 768 resolution as the first two generations of iPads, which helped keep the price down. Performance was virtually identical to the iPad 2.
The iPad mini was available in three color schemes: black and slate, white and silver, and space gray.

In October 2014, Apple made the iPad Air thinner and gave it a more powerful processor, Apple’s A8X chip – the same chip found in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. This was also the first time an iPad was available in gold.
The heart of the iPad Air 2 is Apple’s first triple-core CPU, the first iPad chip to run at 1.5 GHz, and the first with 2 GB of system memory, all of which combine to make this about 75% more powerful than the original iPad Air .
The iPad Air 2 gained an 8 MP iSight camera with 10 FPS bust mode and 120 FPS for slow motion video. The FaceTime HD camera has a new lens that allows more light to reach its sensor.

first product generation of the iPad brand by Apple
With its color graphics, the Apple II had changed the world of personal computing. With its graphical interface and mouse, the Macintosh had further changed the computing world. With its massive storage and ease of use, the iPod had changed the MP3 market. With its touchscreen, the iPhone had changed the smartphone market. And then came the iPad.
With its Newton MessagePad, Apple had already pioneered the PDA (personal digital assistant), but the iPad was going to be a huge leap forward from Newton, iPhone, and iPod touch. It’s 9.7″ 1024 x 768 pixel display would make sure of that.
The iPad ran the same iOS version as the iPhone and iPod touch, and most iPhone apps ran just fine on the iPad, albeit in pixel-doubled mode, which looked primitive. This was mostly a stopgap until developers could update their apps to work with the iPad’s much larger display.

A bit smaller, one-third thinner, and a little lighter than the original iPad , the iPad 2 also moved the iPad line to Apple’s dual-core A5 processor. It was also the first iPad available in white or black.
Perhaps the most important new feature is the addition of rear- and front-facing FaceTime cameras, making this the first iPad able to connect to iPhones, iPod touches, and Macs that support FaceTime.
For the first time, the iPad was also available in a CDMA “+3G” wireless version for use with Verizon and other CDMA carriers – for an additional $130.

line of iPad tablet computers designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc.
Considering how poorly Microsoft has been doing with its Surface , it’s quite remarkable to see Apple jumping into the same product category with the 12.9″ iPad Pro, which arrived in November.
That said, Apple is taking a whole different approach than Microsoft. Where Microsoft started out with two kinds of Surface tablets – the ARM-based Surface RT that only uses Windows RT apps from Microsoft’s online Windows Store and the x86-based Surface Pro that can run regular Windows apps and competes with laptops – the iPad Pro is strictly an iOS tablet. Although it may steal some MacBook Air sales, it does not run Mac software. It’s iOS-only, although with true multitasking in iOS 9, it’s no longer limited to one active app at a time.
Microsoft did so poorly with its ARM-based tablets that it discontinued the last one in January 2015, making Surface an x86-only platform at that point. The original Surface and Surface 2 can only run Windows RT apps compiled for their ARM architecture.
